Sunshine in a Bottle!

I've been taking this stuff called SOL-RD and let me tell you it is AWESOME! You take it to build up your immune system, but if you get sick in the meantime, you can do a megadose and it will stop your cold/flu dead in it's tracks! I've had it work a couple of times for me and it's also worked for Dallas. The last time I really thought it wasn't going to 'cause I could feel the cold coming and coming and coming and then BAM! Nothing...totally felt fine after doing the full 3 days of megadose! Halloween

Halloween was the usual! We first did dinner and rice crispy sculptures with Tyrell and Rose. We then went trunk-or treating. My sisters Sara and Rebecca and their friend Charlotte took Hyrum trick-or-treating in Idaho Falls after that. He was really tired and apparently they carried him most of the time. They brought him home around 9pm and he was konked in his carseat (they brought him into the house still buckled in). Hyrum was a dinosaur, Brayden was a clown, Tanner was an elephant, I was a superhero and Dallas was a soccer reff. Dallas and I ate most of the kids "good" candy and have used the rest for potty-training incentives. ;o)

Things to Come

We attempted to put ALL the kids (ours and Tyrell/Rose's) to bed in our little house the other night. I put Noah in Hyrum's "room" and they were just giggling up a storm! Josh kept trying to go visit and they were saying "come here monster" to get him to come play with them. Even though they were supposed to be sleeping, it just made me laugh 'cause in a few years we'll be having fun sleepovers and i'm sure there will be just as much giggling. Noah is the one with the awesome giggle!

Bear World

I took the boys with a friend of mine to Bear World last Saturday. Tanner stayed with a lady from my ward. I wasn't expecting to see much, but it ended up being awesome! We went at the perfect time. We followed one of the first tour busses and so the bears were really hungry and a ton of them came out for food. We also went to the petting zoo part of it and they had DEAR you could pet!!! I was amazed. Hyrum was pretty leary of the animals, but Brayden was much braver. One of the workers there gave us a carrot to feed a dear and brayden just put it right in that dears mouth! The best part of all was that they had a little amuzement park!!! The boys loved the little roller coaster ride... looks like we're all ready for lagoon ;o) So... how much did this all cost us??? It's actually $75 for a carload up to 7 people!!!! The other stuff is included in that. Good thing for us, Amanda (my friend) her brother had gotten a free ticket from 590kid.com. I've started earning points on there for next summer's fun!! If you want to know details, let me know 'cause I get a percentage of my friends' points that I refer!! ;o) It's super easy to earn points! Anyway, enjoy the pics.... Happiness!

I just can't tell you guys how happy I've been lately. I think a lot of things have contributed to it...first of all... I'm not pregnant!!! I've really felt that the past almost 4 years now, I just haven't been myself. Those of you who knew me back in the day, know how crazy I can be!! I just haven't had the energy to get back there! It's been pretty depressing actually. Also, I've felt pretty friendless...as far as girlfriends go 'cause of course I live with my bestest best friend ;o). For some reason I couldn't get myself to make the effort to really talk to the other girls in my ward, ya know! beyond church, to really build a true friendship! Another not normal thing for me. Thankfully, the Lord helped me and sent another girl to my ward that helped bring us together outside of church! Everyone needs good friends!

Another thing is that I feel like Dallas and I have been really growing in our love lately. We've always loved eachother, but certain things help strengthen a marriage! Great conversation is one thing. Since we've been "working" together, we've had so much in common in our day that we spend hours talking, and not just boring talking...REAL GOOD CONVERSATION!! We even spend a lot of time talking on facebook while he's in Pocatello between classes. Thursday night he was driving home from Pocatello and had me on speaker phone, but I couldn't hear him very well, so I said I'd just talk to him when he got home. HE said, no! I want to keep talking to you! We've also been really silly lately and I LOVE it!! Anything that makes me feel like we are dating again is great. This is why we are learning about "different" businesses is because those are the kinds of businesses that will allow us the freedom to spend more time together. No! This isn't another sales pitch ;o) I just feel really happy this morning and wanted to share that with all of you! I hope that we can all just find happiness in our lives and the things we do. Think about your dreams and find a way to get there! Life is meant to be hard work, but it is also meant to be enjoyed.... "Men are, that they might have joy"

Fresh Salsa

Can I just say, "I LOVE FRESH SALSA!!!!" I can just eat it by the spoonful. But hey! It's healthy, right? Well... minus the salt. But, I totally would never eat that much tomato if it wasn't salsa! Maybe it's the cilantro too.... i just love, love, love cilantro!!! mmmmmmm. oh... and no! That is not a picture of my salsa, i was too lazy to go take one, but it looked quite tastey mind you!

I've Waited Long Enough!!!

OK... I just can't keep this bottled up anymore. you HAVE to at least check-out these youtube videos about what JD premium can do for you. I have been doing a TON of research on the effects Omega 3's and antioxidants can have on your body. I'm pretty impressed. The crazy thing is that JD premium has just started here in Idaho/Utah, so there is a WHOLE lot more people who haven't heard about this....all you other staters!!!! I don't know if you know much about Melaleuca, but is is even in other countries now. Roger Ball (founder of JD prem.) was the co-founder of Melaleuca. This thing is going to explode and I don't know about you, but for $50 a month... I want to be a part of this!! Plus I get awesome products for my $50 (plus in the next couple of months I won't be paying for it anymore). Their all-purpose (natural) cleaner gets nailpolish out of the carpet! My friend's daughter painted it on the carpet and she said it took it out easily. Anyway... just watch the videos and I'll be calling you to see what you think. I PROMISE that I don't care if you tell me NO.... like I said, I just don't want anyone to come back and ask why I didn't tell them about it.

LAGOON

It is true... I went to SLC completely child FREE!!! No, i didn't even take Tanner. I've just been pumping an extra "meal" a day in preparation for this trip. A friend from my ward asked me last month if I wanted to go on retreat with her and of course i said yes. We decided on Lagoon. Friday we ate with friends/family at my favorite chinese gourmet restaurant and had a great time talking. Amanda and I stayed up talking until 1:30 in the morning. My body kept waking me up early Sat. even though i'd gone to bed late and actually could sleep in...sad. We went to Lagoon and had a fabulous time! I took some dremmamine to be sure I wouldn't get sick. I still felt kindof light-headed and a bit tipsy when we would get off a ride. Our definite favorites were the Wicked,and the rocket. The rocket just made me laugh big time...not really sure why, but it was great. It was fun to spend the day just constantly laughing and screaming! We went to the Relief Society concert that night and I could NOT keep my eyes open!!!!! I was exhausted, but i'm also blaming it on the drugs. We went to dinner at the Gateway mall at The Counter and then had dessert at the Haagen Daaz ice cream shop... I love their dulce de leche ice cream!!! When we got back to amanda's aunts, I went straight to bed. Sunday we couldn't get ahold of any friends of family to go to church with, so we went to Amanda's mission president's grandson's ward. It was a great trip and we had some awesome conversations. I kept dreaming about the rides and even found myself leaning in different directions as i was "riding" the roller coasters. I can't wait to go again!

I need Ideas!!!!!!

HELP ME!!! Please give me ideas so that I can get my precious sleep back. My house has become incredibly small the last few months. We only have 2 bedrooms so Hyrum and Brayden have been in the same room since Brayden was born. I have finally had it with the two of them staying up all night playing and waking up before the sun even comes up, so I moved Hyrum into our entry-way and Tanner is in the bedroom with Brayden. I was super excited to go to sleep that night, because all three boys were asleep by 8:30pm!!! Only by 3am Hyrum had snuck into my room and into my bed only to be followed by Brayden an hour later. Not wanting to start a pattern, I put them both back in their beds. Well, the next few mornings went about the same, sometimes Hyrum would just go into brayden's room and wake him up (the kid needs way more sleep than hyrum is letting him have... he's a grump all day!) Yet again I thought I had a solution. I put a babygate up so that Hyrum couldn't get out of the entryway...apparently he can climb it and also just knock it over. ;o( What else can I do???? Dallas' B-Day

We celebrated Dallas' b-day a little early because my mom has been here this last week. His real b-day is on Monday. I think we had a fabulous time. I took him to the all you can eat steak place that is just down the road from us, but we'ver never gone to before. It was pretty tastey. Then we went shopping for shoes for him, but apparently his style isn't what stores make anymore. We couldn't find any brown skater shoes anywhere! Then we went to gameworld and played arcade games. I thought that was a lot of fun, because it made me feel like a teenager again. After games, we walked around for a while waiting for the 10:20pm showing of Harry Potter. I can't believe I stayed awake! I liked the movie, but I can't believe it was only rated PG. There were some pretty intense moments! I won't say what, because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but Dallas and I jumped out of our seats at one part. Good thing it was only us and one other couple in the theatre. And to top it off... Tanner only woke up once that night! woohoo.;o)

Hyrum's 3rd B-Day

Oops! I guess I forgot to post Hyrum's 3rd B-day. Things have been a bit crazy! Anyway... some new things about Hyrum. Just in the last few months I've really noticed his maturity level increase. It's been great to have him understand what I am saying. He has an extremely good memory (too good at times). He has become easier to understand when he speaks in sentences. He starts speech through the school district on Monday. He loves dinosaurs and everyone is a monster at some point in time... especially Daddy and Uncle Kyle (my sister's husband...amy's). we have also started the long road of potty training. He does good when he's naked, but will pee a little in his underware before realizing he needs to go to the potty.... I'm open to suggestions!!!!!! Hyrum still has a great sense of humor and is always making us laugh. you can tell he thinks he is funny too. For his party we had Tyrell/Rose and kids over for cake and ice cream. I did pretty good this year and made him a spiderman cake, which he loved. We were a bit lame in the gift department and got him a car toy thing that has an elevator, gas pump... you know what i'm talking about. From D.I. of course. and Gma Maughan gave him a very handsome suit. I also found the fisher price roller skates i bought forever ago for this b-day, so I'll have to give him those one of these days. ;o) Anyway, it was a successful b-day party. ;o)

Albersons had a deal where if you buy $25 worth of select items then you get a $5 coupon to use on whatever at your next visit and you can send in for a $20 rebate check. So, before coupons, I "spent" $25. Only I really only spent $17-ish because of my coupons.Total, out-of-pocket spent was about $21 (taxes and a few dollars after coupons). So, I am going to be getting a $20 check in the mail, which brings me down to $1 spent ($0.05/item) and I still have a $5 coupon to use next time!!!
So, me and my delicious dulche de leche caramel, Haagan Daas Ice cream, are HUGE fans of couponing. ;o)

Tanner is Born!

Here are the photos you've all been waiting to see, and also the labor story for those who want to know all the details.
I went into the doctor Thursday morning and was only 4cm, but I'd been so antsy and nervous that the baby was just going to fall out, that I asked if I could go in that day to be induced (instead of Fri morn.). Dr. Lovell sent me to the hospital (with a quick stop to jack 'n the box for some real food before the labor diet). I started my antibiotics around 10am... which is nasty stuff! It burns like crazy, all I could think was "this stuff isn't meant to be put in an IV!!!!!" At 2:00 Dr. Lovell broke my water and I finally started having some contractions. They stayed about 3 min. apart for forever! So, after boring myself with walking, I sat in a rocking chair and talked to my mom on the phone while Dallas took a nap. She would laugh whenever I told her to hold on while I had a contraction, but it was a good distraction to talk to her. After a while I stood up and the contractions went crazy, so I told my mom it was time to get off the phone. At this point I was thinking, "finally! I've got to be like an 8 and we're almost done." well... I was only a 5 and only 75% effaced and the baby was still pretty high, -2 station. Let's just say...I think he could have stayed in the oven for a while longer. I was pretty disappointed and gave in to the lure of the epidural. Yes... that is what I said. I had an epidural. Getting the epidural was not fun, but it made for a really nice delivery and after birth. I was surprised that I could still feel most of what was going on down there... only without any pain. I liked that. Anyway, about 6 hours after they broke my water, Tanner finally decided to make his appearance. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long. I actually feel really good. I had told the doctor that my goal was to not tear, so having the epidural made it easier for me to have more control during pushing (big plus). However, I still tore a little, but much better than the past two experiences! My mother-in-law has had the other boys in Rupert and will bring them back tomorrow. That has been really nice. I've had some good one-on-one time with Tanner and I feel ready for the other two to come back. I miss their entertainment! ;o) Anyway... that's the birth story.

The Plan

I went to the Doctor this morning. I am 3cm. So! The plan is I am going in to the Doctor next thurs. morning to see if I've made any progress. If so, then I am scheduled to be "induced" Friday, 17th at 7:30am. Unless, of course, the baby decides to come sooner than that. Anyway... that is the plan as of today. ;o)

AH!

I just have to say that looking at my pregnancy ticker just freaked me out! Technically it's 3 weeks left, but seeing 2 weeks 6 days just made it seem like it's tomorrow. Ok... so maybe that's just wishful thinking. ;o) At my appointment this last Thursday, I found-out that I am Strep B positive. Such a wierd thing if you ask me... the last two were negative, but this baby had to be positive! Anyway... so now I have to be "induced" because the antibiodics need to be started 4 hours before the baby is born... well... I don't think I'll have that much time since brayden was just a couple of hours. So, the plan is to start the antibiodics on a planned date (hopefully the 17th) and then strip my membranes and start the walking. I really would like to avoid Pitocin, just because I've heard/read that it makes labor much more intense and I would really like to avoid an epidural. I know you all think I'm crazy for it, but I figure if I can do it without, then why not avoid any potential problems and epidural can have? Anyway... don't want to argue with anyone on that subject. That's what works for me. So... we'll see. Saturday I had a lot of cramping and major back pain in the evening, so things may go their own way anyway! I'm blaming the cramping on the fact that they baby has "dropped". I've had no other indications of labor happening, but I'm sure it'll surprise me one of these days. ;o) Maybe that's just more wishful thinking though. Anyway...all I can say is...Let's get this over with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skim boarding in the yard

The ditch water was really full a while back and so we decided to flood the yard. Dallas got the great idea to get his skim board out (from our Georgia trip) and try to use it in the yard. Brayden actually had a lot of fun and kept asking for more.

8 months

I now have about a month left. This baby is so wiggly!! Even Dallas is shocked at how much he can feel the baby not just kicking, but trying to stretch to rediculous lenghts!!! I tried to get a video of my belly doing huge ripples, but by the time i sat back down with the camera, it was over! go figure. Just trust me... this is one active boy!

Nature Hike

A few weeks ago we did our first hike of the season. It was an easy hike near Kelly's Canyon. It was paved and we really could have pushed the boys in the stroller. Dallas had Brayden in the pack and Hyrum walked easily with my slow pace. ;o) We let the boys play in a little stream for a while and Brayden really had fun with that. We also grilled chicken on our little portable grill. I'd forgotten how much better things taste grilled. Anyway, this is all I could think of to update the blog with, so there you go.

There are two pictures of Hyrum in his hospital pj's and he is happily playing with the toys in pre-op. The other two are just after surgery and he was watching movies. I actually like how his hair looks...tried to do it like that since then, but it just doesn't work! The video is of Hyrum when the sedative was kicking in. The real-life version was pretty funny. He was super giggly (but not for the camera-of course) and just really loopy. The x on his forehead is from the plastic surgeon. That is how he marks that he's talked to us.

The moment you've all been waiting for!

The ultrasound lady told me I'm going to have to put the cute dresses away, because we are definitely having another BOY! And yes...I'm a little disappointed. I really was hoping for a girl, but a house full of boys could be fun...right? ;o) Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a sweet little boy who doesn't want to get into everything! is that even possible? *sigh* I guess I need to find some good books on raising boys. ;o)

A lot longer up-date

Well... Dallas has a test 'till late tonight so I am bored and I decided to document Hyrum's surgery happenings before I forget. Unfortunately, I still can't put pictures up, so that will come another day. SO! Monday we drove to SLC and for dinner we met a few friends at my favorite place....Chinese Gormet (buffet!) Hyrum was allowed to eat up 'till midnight, but really 8pm was the last he had anything to eat. We got up and went over to PCMC and checked-in at 7:15am. Hyrum loved the toys and didn't ask for food or water! I was amazed! He didn't go in for surgery until 10:00am. This is the child that tells me all day long with his pitiful voice, "i'm hungry". So, we get his little physical and head to the post-op waiting room, where hyrum found and became attached to a dinasaur toy. The surgery before us went over and they didn't know when they'd be out, so we weren't able to give him his sedative orally because that takes 20min to kick in. instead he was given the same medacine through his nose! 2 syringes full of that stuff. They said it stings and doesn't taste good, but it works in about 5 minutes. About 10min before our time for surgery, hyrum fell and we think he hit his head. Neither of us saw it, we just heard the thud and his crying. We weren't too concerned because this is a frequent at our house. BUT, the nurses freaked out and had us move to a diff area to check his vitals. One of the nurses said his forehead was getting a big goose egg, so i looked and i had to say, "no...he just has a protruding forehead. it always looks like that." ha! anyway, i guess it was a big deal 'cause they weren't going to do the surgery if he had any goose eggs. That's what they get for having a slippery floor and putting too big of socks on my child! ;o) Anyway, so soon after that the surgeon came out and talked to us and then they gave hyrum his sedative. He was pretty giggly and mellowed out really fast. We took him to the "see ya later" door and handed him over to the anesthesiologist (i hate that part). 2 hours later I went to the post-op area to be there when Hyrum was waking up. When I got to him he was sitting up and the nurse asked me to support him 'cause he refused to lay down. he wasn't crying...just staring into space. i finally got him to lay down and he fell asleep. The surgeon numbed the areas he worked on, so hyrum didn't feel any pain...didn't even get morphine this time! He didn't cry until that stuff wore off. We gave him tylenol with codeine once and from then on we rotated normal tylenol and IBU profin. I don't like the codeine stuff 'cause it plugs them up, makes them sleepy, and decreases their appetite. All reasons that would keep us in the hospital! So, he's been great with the normal stuff.His IV wasn't hooking up right once we got to his room, so the nurse asked if he would drink some water...well...he said yes and had 2 cups of water and 3 things of juice. The nurse asked me to slow him down because she didn't want him to throw up. Out came the IV...i love it when they do that. He actually ate really good too...applesauce, pudding, tomato soup, and yogurt. it was really nice to not have to worry about him not eating or drinking! By the end of the night he had licked most of the stitches loose in his lip. i asked the nurse if that was a problem and she said really there was nothing we could do to stop him. I'm pretty sure all the stitches are gone now..they were supposed to last 3 weeks. ;o( I decided that revisions really should wait until they are older and can understand..."don't lick your stitches!!" Hyrum actually slept good that night,despite the noise and lights! His room had a big glass door/wall that a curtain was pulled across, but let me tell you! it was hard to sleep through the noise of the nurses and the light in the hall. He woke up a few times, but the nurse took his vitals and i gave him his medacine (i requested this, because he takes it really easily from me) and he was out again. At his other surgeries we would have to hold him and rock him back to sleep...much more work then. The only problem was he decided that 4:30am was time to get up!!! By 5:30am he was skipping the halls and i thought, "it's time to go home!" I waited because i couldn't order breakfast for him 'till 7 and we were also waiting for Dallas to get there. He slept at the Ronald McDonald house because he was going to be driving and also going to classes Wed. I finally called him at a quarter to 8 because hyrum was laying in the hall playing with toys...apparently his room wasn't big enough. We got home, home at about 2 and i put the kids and myself down for a nap!! Things have been good since then. It's a bit stressful trying to keep him from putting things in his mouth, but we're making it work! And keeping Brayden from hitting hyrum or pushing him...those two are always fighting! i love it when they make eachother laugh...but they drive me crazy going back and forth with the pushing and hitting. ya know?!! BOYS!!! I REALLY WANT A GIRL ;o) *sigh*

quick up-date

Just a quick up-date! We are back home and everything seems to be really good. Hyrum did amazing! There were some definite pluses and minuses to him being older. I will post pictures and a video of him "loopy" from the sedative. He doesn't seem to be in any pain... i just keep rotating tylenol and IBU profin every 3 hours to be on the safe side. We're all just a little bit tired... Hyrum decided 4:30 this morning was THE time to wake up. ;o( oh well... i did get a nap in while the boys took their nap, so we're doing pretty good. It'll probably take me a while to put pics up 'cause I had to borrow Rose's camera since we can't find ours. But one of these days i'll write more details.

Surgery

Just thought I would give you all a heads-up about Hyrum's next surgery. Our next "planned" surgery wasn't until he's about 6 and that will be a bone graft for his gumline. BUT... I finally took him to the surgeon (was supposed to go back in aug) because his speech therapist has insisted that the teeny tiny hole in the roof of his mouth (fistula) is why he can't say a lot of his consonant sounds. What do I think??? I think he's just lazy with his lips. Anyway, the surgeon said we could take care of it whenever...now, summer, fall. I decided to go with the now because we will be having baby #3 in the summer. So, This Tuesday...the 17th we are scheduled for surgery at Primary Children's. So, if anyone wants to say hello, we will be there Monday afternoon and staying at the Ronald McDonald house (love that place). So what are they doing?? Closing the hole and then doing a little revision on his lip 'cause he's got a little extra skin that's bothered me for a while. And touch up his scar right under his nostril. It gets red sometimes...not all the time, but I figure when he's 16 he really won't like trying to cover that up!!! So... we're taking care of it now. It's supposed to be "no big deal" and we could leave that same day, but he scheduled us for an overnight since we don't live near by. HOWEVER...his last surgery he was only 1 and it was "major" plus he had a fever of 105, and we still had to follow him around with his IV pole because he was bored sitting in his crib! That was the day after surgery! So, we'll see how long we'll stay this time around. So, I really hate handing him over to the anesthesiologist, but they'll give him a sedative and Dallas will pull him around in the wagon, so at least he'll be asleep. I'm just not looking forward to arm restraints...he's not going to like that so much. But he's gonna need them 'cause right now he's ALWAYS got something in his mouth. So... that's next week's adventure!! Thankfully, Dallas' sister, Taralee is watching Brayden for us! ;o)
On another note... we will FINALLY find-out what kind of baby we are having! My appt. is March 5th. Keep your fingers crossed that it's a girl!!!
